A Piece of Peace

A little tech break won't hurt
Fed my mind with this last year
So I went on from 12 to 24 hours a month of no phone
Got less toxicity from social media
from people who care more about image
and care less about humanity
I gained more self-control
more time to be creative
and be gentler to myself

In the beginning of this year, this new decade
I fed my mind with "less involvement, less stress"
focus on evolving, not involving
I read messages without the intention to reply
share useful contents without the intention to inspire
react without the intention to bring impact

But this year is a bitch -
manipulative, attention-seeker
it has its own way of getting people gather
used all the elements to tap everyone -
Fire, Amazon forest burning
Earth, Taal eruption and earthquakes
Air, airstrikes due to war
Water, improper sanitation that creates viruses,
leaving me no choice but to get involved

Luckily, people now are becoming more sensible,
reliable, dependable,
and grateful for their lives

Couldn't thank this year enough
for being such a badass,
you have awaken us.

Ocean

I saw you before our eyes even met
I was wondering of how familiar you are to me
perhaps I have already met you
or I am dreaming to meet you
I instantly felt our connection
like the moon's gravitational pull
that causes the oceans to be wild and calm

Everytime I look at you
I see shades of blue
almost similar to the sky above
almost unreachable
luckily, the universe brought us together
our love for nature and adventure
bridged our way to each other

I remember clearly how I tried to resist
being drawn to you
but your depth pulls me closer
now, I am drowning
waves are everywhere
trying to crush my walls
making me feel vulnerable and ready to be saved

You are the warmest embrace
I never knew my soul needed.

Favorite

dark skies
cool wind
brown eyes
my favorite
since the start
you look like art
deep
creep
meaningful
always beautiful
sometimes
you look like nature
so pure
peaceful
always beautiful

one word is not enough to describe you
one lifetime is not enough to love you.

Contrast

You were always the black and white
no gray area, no playful hues
my colors were so bright
I tried not to reduce
so you took risk and blend with me
we made art
we fell in love
not so long you see
we grew apart
we ran out of love

boring are your colors
blinding are mine
we tried enough to have it fixed
yet we're not the perfect mix.

Verses

I heard stories of kids
pretending to be grownups
cooking
working
taking care of their family
but not paying bills
I heard stories of adults
wanting to go back as being kids
running
playing
daydreaming of future family
but not crying
I heard stories of
uncontentment
contradictions
unfulfilled fantasies
I heard stories of
undying hope
inspirations
promising realities

the universe is sending us stories
it's time we create a new one.
